CB2 receptor modulation effect on hepatorenal syndrome (HRS)

Bile duct ligation (BDL) causes hepatorenal syndrome (HRS), a life-threatening condition manifested by rapid kidney function deterioration.

It is believed that oxidative damage and inflammatory cascades are the main drivers of liver and kidney injury after BDL.

Recent research by Tronjar et al. 2019 in mice demonstrates that a selective cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) agonist, HU-910, can decrease inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis as well as microcirculation.
